The company then rebranded their project as Lineage Operating System as the company still retained the rights to the Cynogen Mod title.

The open-source Lineage operating system belongs to the UNIX family and is developed by the Lineage operating system open-source community using C for the operating system core, C++ for the third-party libraries and Java for the User Interface, as their programming languages. This operating system targets the market by providing a Firmware replacement for the official stock android versions with various new modifications and tweaks.
